The department was established 1999, at the inception of ESEP-LE-BERGER Universite cotonou Republic of benin.
The department has remained central to the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes not only for economics students but also to other department of the university such as computer science department, politics and international relations department, accounting department, business administration department, human resources and management department, marketing departments among others.
The department has progressively trained students for the management of domestic and international economics. The department offers B.Sc. (Economics) degree programme
OBJECTIVES OF THE DEPARTMENT
The objectives of the degree programme are:
- To train economist who can design and formulate economic policies in the light of their country situation.
- To train economist who through the acquisition of economic principles and application of same can analyze economic problems.
- To train economist who are not just familiar with economic theories but who are also conscious of the limitations of those theories as they relate to underdeveloped economic setting.
